For this project, me and another person were assigned the task of creating a film that demonstrates us editing techniques to help convey one word. The word we were assigned was "Serious", so we had to make a film that helped convey seriousness.
When we first started the project, we were first told to brainstorm what our film would look like and what would we include in the film. We both decided to make a film about a student that has little time to submit an assignment and must work against time to submit the assignment on time. We thought that this would be a good situation to help convey a feeling of seriousness as the person in this film is working against time and must deeply focus to complete the assignment in time.
The storyboard we made along with brainstorming our project helped visualize our setting for our film (table in our school's courtyard) and also helped us determine the character's actions in the film and what he would do as time starts to run out. The storyboard helped narrow down our overall idea for our film and what message the film was bringing to the audience.
For our editing software, we used Adobe Express as it was easy to navigate resources and actually edit with overall since we did not require too much editing tools and wanted an easy tool to use at the same time as well.
Overall, we believe we did good in conveying the feeling in our film to our audience and filming the scenes to help convey this feeling. We did good in organizing and editing the films to ensure that they were cleaned up from mishaps from filming and transitions between scenes were as good as they could be. However, we believe that we could do better in some of the clock scenes and making them more accurate as the clocks show nearly the same time when we filmed them and there were some irregular/nonsense times as well. We also believe that we took a little longer than we should have as we were given about one class period to film but required a bit more time to film as well. As a result of this, the character is wearing a different set of clothes towards the end of the film.
